Skatewave® Materials

Aluminum
All of our aluminum materials utilize significant post-consumer content

  • Posts contain 24 percent post-consumer recycled content
  • Aluminum sheets and plates contain 40 percent post-consumer content

It is cheaper, faster and more energy efficient to recycle aluminum than ever before. Approximately 5 percent of the energy required to produce primary aluminum ingot is needed to produce recycled aluminum ingot. In addition, recycled aluminum requires only about 10 percent of the capital equipment compared with primary aluminum. We use aluminum in coping end caps.

Steel
The steel we use contains a minimum of 44 percent post-consumer recycled content. We use steel for:

  • Decks
  • Transitions and transition plates
  • Coping
  • Framing and framing legs
  • Grind rails

America’s steel industry has already reduced emissions to levels well below Kyoto standards, a practice created to reduce greenhouse gases in an effort to prevent climate change.

LLDPE (Linear Low-Density Polyethylene)
Our LLDPE plastic is highly recyclable. This rotationally molded plastic offers maximum strength and color performance for longlasting performance. We use LLDPE in:

  • Highway Barrier
  • Fire Hydrant

Recycled Gray HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) Boards
These wood-like gray boards contain 97 percent post-consumer content. They are used in our:

  • Skate Tables
  • Benches
  • Grind Boxes
  • Ledges

These HDPE boards provide the look of wood, in a durable, maintenance-free product.

Permalene® HDPE
Our Permalene is 100 percent recyclable. In fact,we recycle approximately 475,000 lbs. of scrap Permalene every year. Permalene is used in:

  • Skatewave Enclosures
  • Underneath steel skating surface as a sound dampener
