Skatewave™ Unveils Versatile Ultra-Modular 3.0 Product Line

System is the First With Three Totally Interchangeable Skating Surfaces

MINNEAPOLIS – December 20, 2004 – Skatewave, the nation’s leading manufacturer of modular community skateparks, has introduced Skatewave 3.0 – the first and only skatepark system with totally interchangeable skate surfaces. Not only does this give skatepark planners the ability to choose the surface that’s right for their riders, but it also lets them change the surface as the needs of their riders change. Skatewave 3.0 is based on an ultra-modular design system that increases manufacturing precision and delivers the greatest cost efficiencies to the customer.

Skatewave 3.0 gives skatepark planners a choice of three interchangeable skating surfaces: TekTrack™, RampX™ or stainless steel.

• The first option for skatepark planners is TekTrak-coated steel. Super-durable, sound-dampened, corrosion-resistant. Low-maintenance steel surface for long term durability. The factory-applied powdercoat textured finish hugs wheels for the perfect balance of slip and grip.

• Choice #2 is RampX, the best phenolic resin skating surface in the industry. RampX is made from a durable composite material that provides superior wheel traction and compressive strength. Made from post-consumer recycled materials, RampX is the environmentally friendly choice.

• The premium choice in the Skatewave 3.0 product line is stainless steel. This top-of-the-line surface is ultra-tough and virtually maintenance-free. Stainless steel is available by special order.

All three surfaces utilize Skatewave’s exclusive surface-mounted fasteners for ease of installation.

The new Skatewave 3.0 products provide skatepark planners with an unmatched level of modularity, which equates to an unlimited number of design options. Skatewave’s ultra-modular system lets planners create a huge array of custom configured obstacles, multi-level platforms and expansive skate plazas. These designs can be reconfigured at any time to provide riders with a fresh new skating experience. And because these modular parts can be manufactured on a large scale, they are finished to precise tolerances and can be offered at competitive prices.

“Skatewave 3.0 gives our customers complete flexibility in designing their skateparks,” says director of Marketing, Bill Dietrick. “The modularity of Skatewave ramps and obstacles, coupled with the interchangeability of our ramp surfaces, lets them design a skatepark that precisely meets the needs of their skaters and their communities. Now, if their skaters are looking for a change, they can change surfaces and configurations instead of buying a new skatepark. With Skatewave 3.0 they get a skatepark that’s always unique to their community, their style of skating and budget.”

Since its introduction in March 2001, Skatewave has installed more than 400 skateparks in communities across North America. Skatewave is a division of Landscape Structures Inc., Delano, Minn.
