MINNEAPOLIS, March 21, 2002 – Skatewave, a division of Landscape Structures Inc., has announced the launch of the Skatewave 2.0 modular skatepark system, a new generation of skatepark equipment that sets the standard for performance, safety and durability.

Skatewave 2.0 is the first skatepark system to use PVC-coated 12 gauge steel on its modules. Integrated layers of PVC and steel are featured on the decks, frames, back and side panels, side braces and transition plates of Skatewave 2.0 modules, providing riders with smoother transitions from the ground to the ramps, and a more stable, precise ride. In addition, the bonded layer of PVC reduces noise throughout the system, and is more wear-resistant than wood or composite surfaces. Skatewave 2.0 is backed with a 15-year limited warranty.

Skatewave 2.0 is also the first fully-modular skatepark system to offer riders the ability to adjust the height of three independent grind rails. This tool-free adjustability employs a simple pin mechanism that permits riders to vary the height of the rail from 12" to 16" in two-inch increments. The round grind rail diameters were also increased from 1.9" OD to a 2.375" OD for improved beginner to intermediate rider performance, and Skatewave added 2" to the lower end of its kinked round grind rail.

Four entirely new products also make their debut in Skatewave 2.0: a 10' adjustable rectangular straight rail, a 14' kinked rectangular rail, an 8' x 18" x 18" ledge and an 8' x 1' x 3' grind box. The products come in a new gray, black and white color scheme.

This new generation of Skatewave equipment makes its debut on the first anniversary of Skatewave. In March 2001, Skatewave revolutionized the skatepark industry when it unveiled the planet’s first steel-based modular skatepark system. The strength, durability and portability of the Skatewave system made it an instant success among parks and recreation directors. For the first time, communities of all sizes had an affordable, reliable and flexible alternative to the permanence of concrete-based systems, and the maintenance problems of wood. Communities reacted by installing more than 100 Skatewave skateparks in the company’s first year of operation.
