Second Annual Skatewave™ Demo Tour Rolls Across North America
Local youth riders and park officials gear up for skatepark’s arrival
MINNEAPOLIS – April 10, 2006 – For the second year, the Skatewave Demo Tour is making its way across North America, giving riders and skatepark planners a chance to experience the latest in modular skatepark equipment. The Demo Tour kicked off April 6, in the Twin Cities, and is slated to make stops in more than a dozen states and provinces.
“Skateboarding is the fastest growing sport among kids,” said Barb King, president of Landscape Structures Inc. “It’s important to provide a safe place for them to ride, and community skateparks are a great solution. Riders of all skill levels are able to take advantage of it, and with Skatewave’s modular system, the skatepark can grow with the riders.”
The public Skatewave event is open to riders of all abilities, park officials and members of the community. There is no charge, but those participating must sign a waiver of liability and bring their own helmet. Each one-day event will showcase a 4,500 square-foot skatepark complete with various obstacles, and will feature a demonstration by a professional rider. Pro riders on the 2006 Demo Tour include Rodney Jones, Dayne Brummet, Charlie Thomas and Dorian Tucker. There will also be opportunities for local riders to try out the equipment. Participating riders at each event are eligible for drawings and giveaways from sponsors.
Prior to the public event, invited community and park officials gather for the “Skatewave Experience” educational seminar. These influential skatepark planners learn the latest in design trends and safety standards, as well as how to plan and develop their own community skatepark.
The Tour is being sponsored by vitaminwater®, AngelBoy ™, Sundt Memorial Foundation and Landscape Structures Inc.
