Skatewave Landscape Structures

The staff of Manatee County Parks and Recreation and the Board of County Commissioners in Bradenton, Fla., had received many community requests to construct more skateparks in the county. Because of the requests, they recognized that skateboarding is gaining popularity in the community and installed a new Skatewave® skatepark.

The county had an outdoor roller hockey rink that didn’t get used, so they decided to convert it into a skatepark. “The space was already available, so it made perfect sense to build a skatepark at this location,” explained Kristi Dickerson, recreation manager of the Manatee County Parks and Recreation department.

To get started on their skatepark project, they solicited help from the experts and “future users” for design suggestions. They chose a design to benefit beginning to advanced riders. “The design, along with the cutting edge equipment and flow meets the needs of all users—youth and adults,” said Kristi.

G.T. Bray Skate Park provides a safe riding environment for local youth, and helped fill a void in the community. The park helps bring the community together, allowing riders the opportunity to meet new friends and advance their skills.
